2012-13 Preview: Chris Mueller

Leading up to the lockout shortened season, we will be providing 2012-13 previews for each player. In no specific order, we continue with Chris Mueller today…

2011-12 Review:
Chris Mueller spent the overwhelming majority of the 2012-13 season with the Milwaukee Admirals of the AHL, where he scored 32 goals and added 28 assists for 60 points in 73 games. Mueller was an AHL All-Star as he led the Admirals in scoring.

Mueller played in four regular season contests for the Predators in the 2011-12 season and won 50.6 percent of his faceoff attempts. He did not register a point while playing in those four games, and averaged on 8:27 of ice time.

Mueller didn’t get too many chances to prove himself at the NHL level during the 2011-12 season because of the amount of depth Nashville had, but he also didn’t do anything when he was in Nashville to warrant him staying.

Lockout status:
Mueller played with the Admirals during the lockout, posting 12 goals in 34 games and placing second on the team in scoring with 20 points.

2012-13 Look-ahead:
It’s very possible that Mueller will be spending a lot of time with Milwaukee again throughout the remainder of this season, but the shortened season may play into his favor. If injuries become a problem, or other younger players don’t perform well, Mueller may get his chance for extended playing time in Nashville. He is a really good AHL player, but he needs to be put in a position to utilize his offensive ability at the NHL level.
