With the preseason concluded, the Nashville Predators have made more cuts from training camp. According to the NHL’s media site, the Predators have cut forward Taylor Beck, defenseman Joe Piskula and goalie Marek Mazanec from its roster. With Viktor Stalberg on IR, that means the roster stands at 23 four days before opening night.
It’s not a surprise that Beck didn’t make the roster. Even if he had made the cut in Nashville, he will get more ice time in Milwaukee (if Moser, a training camp tryout, signs with them). Despite the injuries to Stalberg (3-4 weeks) and Patric Hornqvist (day-to-day), Filip Forsberg and Craig Smith left positive impressions in the preseason. If they see their roles increased with Stalberg sidelined, it makes sense for Beck to rack up playing time in the AHL rather than seeing limited action in Nashville. And with one assist in four preseason games, he didn’t stick out like a sore thumb this month.
