Preds 4, Panthers 3: The Morning After

Five things from Tuesday night’s game…

- The Predators scored four goals in the game, which is the most they have scored all season long. Yet, they didn’t seem to be very pleased with the way they played.

“It was a pretty frustrating game,” said Predators head coach Barry Trotz. “I’d say that game was the most sloppy we’ve been in all the games this year, not real detailed, making poor judgment errors all over the ice, just not real sharp tonight. But we found a way to win, and that’s part of learning to win. The game was on the line after two periods, and I think in the third period we kicked it up considerably and we took it to them.”

-Patric Hornqvist scored his second goal in as many games from what is becoming his go-to spot on the power play. He got the puck on the goal line next to the net and roofed a backhand shot past Jacob Markstrom.

- The Predators survived a barrage from the Panthers in the final minute with the extra attacker. Florida was able to get some good looks, but Rinne and the Predators were able to keep the puck out of the net.

“I think we were ok until 59 seconds or so. I thought we made about 10 or 12 mental errors. I was wondering ‘What else is going to happen?’ We can laugh now because the game was over, but it was almost like a comedy of errors by us in the last minute,” Trotz said.

- Former Predator Marcel Goc scored Florida’s second goal of the game, which tied it up at that point. It was a weird play, but Goc was right by the net and was able to bat the puck past Pekka Rinne and into the net.

- David Legwand played in his 900th career NHL game on Tuesday night. Every single one of those games has come in a Nashville uniform.

3 Stars from Tuesday night’s game…

1. Craig Smith, NSH… Smith notched a goal and an assist and played arguably his best game since very early on in his rookie season.

2. Shea Weber, NSH… Weber got his first goal of the season on a booming slap shot and also had an assist.

3. Mike Fisher, NSH… Fisher had a very nice goal and an assist on the night and played well on both sides of the puck.
