Shea Weber, the 2010 Vancouver Olympics champion with the Canadian national hockey team, won a one-year contract with the Nashville Predators at a salary of $7.5 million a year through NHL arbitration, the league’s official website reports. The amount was a record for any contract decided by arbitration.

Shea Weber became a restricted free agent at the end of the 2010-11 season. The 26-year-old defenseman demanded a salary of $8.5 million, while Nashville offered the player $4.75 million. For the 2010-11 season, Weber earned $4.5 million.
